Cincinnati Durga Utsav 2008
|
 |
Decoration, including Aalponas, paintings
and general arragement of decorative items at the venue of any
festivity is a big part of our Indian culture. Decorative
Aalponas (also called Rangolis) are prepared with great care
and ferver -- often taking days to finish each item. Paintings
and wall hangings are made to complement the theme of the
festivity or to enhance the mood of the festivity. The
venue of any festivity is enhanced by other decorative items
which accentuate the cultural heritage symbolized by the
festivity.
Our objective is
to imbibe our little ones -- the future leaders -- in this
great cultural activity and our heritage. To that end, the decoration team has enlisted all
junior members from CCI and they are participating
enthusiastically to develop decorative items for the Durga
Utsav. The invitation cards for the event have
been personalized by our
childrens' colorful portrayal of Durga Utsav in
their own unique creative styles.
It is our belief that this little step
forward taken together will lead to the giant step of
perpetuating our cultural heritage through generations to
come. So, please join us at the festivities and help us
celebrate together -- as one.
