CCI's participation at RBC ,
Nashville, TN on June 24-26, 2011
Dear Friends,
It is with great pleasure and profound gladness that we share with you the news of our enthusiastic participation at the Regional Bengali Conference (RBC), to be held in Nashville, TN (www.rbc2011.org) on June 24-26, 2011.
Cincinnati Cultural Initiative was invited to make a cultural presentation this year by the Organizing Committee of the RBC 2011. In response to the invitation we offered to stage a dance drama. After reviewing the clips of our performance, RBC invited us to stage a Bengali play as well. We gladly accepted the invitation, and the challenge.
The volunteers of Cincinnati Cultural Initiative will present two items this year at Nashville: a nritya-natya and a natok. With our rendition of Rabindranath's "Shyama" we will pay homage and our tributes to the great icon of Bengali culture and celebrate his 150th Birth Anniversary with like-minded cultural enthusiasts. The charm and graceful dances, the emotional conflicts, and the deceit portrayed by our performers will be supported by the musical scores from HMV archives.
Our other offering: Caretaker-er Preyasee, penned and directed by our own Prabir Das; will be a pensive look into our inner selves. The subject matter of this play is mesmerizing, the rendition is tantalizing, and the after-taste is bitter-sweet. One can only marvel at the collective will of the casts to deliver a strong, yet deeply introspective message to the audience.
We believe that the extent of Cincinnati’s cultural talent and enthusiasm will be well represented at RBC this year. Would you not like to savor these and other invited presentations at the RBC? We thought you would and that is why we are sharing the news of our presentations with you. We hope to see you at the Conference.
Until then, we wish you a safe and enjoyable summer.
Sincerely,
The Board of Trustees (BOT)
