Nababarsha is a perfect amalgam of Bengal's history, culture and tradition; where religion takes a back seat and songs, dances, music, naatok, kobita, golpo and adda take the center stage.

Keeping with tradition, CCI spent Nababarsha crossing the borders of nationality, religion, and time. Kids through songs, poems, music and dance unfurled the great literary works of modern Bengali writers. Parallel to contemporary works, CCI kids also performed to the tunes of folk, the mother of all Bengali literature. A few of the seasoned performers of CCI lit up the stage along with our friends from Dayton and Bangladesh. We discovered one more accomplished dancer among our midst and we hope to see more performances from her in the events ahead. Finally, the icing on the cake, a 3-act drama based on the independence struggle of Bangladesh. Sharp performances from that group have etched the evening in our memories for year to come.

Next up is the annual CCI summer picnic with its liberal dose of sports and games. Last heard, the BOT is looking for a group of enthusiasts to work with them in organizing the event. So give your BOT a call or drop them a mail if you are interested.

Barsho Boron this evening ...

We look forward to meeting with all the community members this evening and having a great line-up of cultural programs.

Some of us had the opportunity to pre-view some of the practice sessions of the youth and the kids of CCI this past week .. and there is only one word to describe their zeal, their passion and their enthusiasm - fantabulous ! Don't miss this opportunity to cheer our kids for their performance and more so, to cheer their teacher-volunteers for their untiring effort, dedication and hours.

For all the shutter-happy creative geniuses in our midst, please post your event photos on our faceboook event page here.

Web hosting issues resolved ...

We were facing some issues with our website since the time we moved to a new web hosting provider. This was mostly due to how internet resolves an address and re-directs traffic to the right place where the content is stored. Consequently, our website had been down for several weeks. These issues have been resolved for good now - or at least, that is what our hosting provider says. For now we are all excited to be able to bring all the latest and greatest news about the community, to the community.

But first things first. We have our annual Barsho Boron coming up on April 25th. So, if you haven't registered yet and prevaricating still, please do not miss out on the fun and the food and the gaan and the good - Register Here !

We are also looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to plan out and organize our Summer Picnic in August. Please write to your BOT if you are interested in teaming up with others and organizing what has been one of our best attended and most enjoyable events !
